South Ossetia accuses Georgia of kidnapping attempt

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the on duty unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of South Ossetia that the Georgian party has made an attempt to kidnap a resident of the Republic of South Ossetia (RSO).

The incident took place today in the afternoon in the northern border of Tskhinval, adjacent to Tamarasheni village populated by Georgians.

"The Georgian diversion group penetrated into the territory of Tskhinval and tried to kidnap citizen Eric Mamiev who happened to get into their field of view. The first of the attackers paralyzed Mamiev with electric shocker. Then, the rest of the group ran out of the grove, but fortunately Mamiev managed to escape. His call for help attracted the residents of the nearby houses who ran out. Frightened by the helpers who hurried to Mamiev, the attackers left the venue," the MIA sources have informed.

The sources also noted that the Georgian party recently made their attacks on local residents more frequently. "If they had managed to seize Mamiev, most likely, they would have given him out for a criminal. The attackers managed to disappear, leaving an armour vest and an RGD-5 grenade in the place of the incident. The operative and investigatory group of the MIA of the RSO is investigating the incident," the MIA sources have noted.
