Another journalist arrested in Azerbaijan

Nazim Guliev, editor of the newspaper "Ideal", has been sentenced today by the Nasiminskiy Court of the capital of Azerbaijan to 2.5 years of imprisonment for slander and insult.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the newspaper's editorial board that Judge Ikram Shirinov recognized the editor guilty under Articles 147 and 148 (slander and insult) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

The claim was filed by Natik Dzhafarov, head of the Binagadin Gas Operation Department.

We remind you that in 2002 Nazim Guliev was convicted for extortion. Mr Guliev himself is a former policeman.
