Militiaman is trialled in Stavropol - a possible culprit of mass fight this summer

The Promyshlenny District Court of the city of Stavropol has started debates of the parties on the criminal case in relation to inspector of the unit for minors' matters of the Promyshlenny District's Interior Department, accused of committing a crime under Article 285 of the Russian Criminal Code (abuse of ex-officio full powers). The case is on beating a minor that could have later become the reason of a mass fight in Stavropol.

Under the prosecution's version, "the criminal actions of the militiaman comprised his arrival to the hospital where the minor was kept and convincing him to sign an explanation note compiled by the militiaman in advance contrary the circumstances of the crime committed in relation to B. The note stated that the minor had got his bodily injuries as a result of falling down from the horizontal bar."

It is reported that the debates of the parties will continue on November 9, 2007. The defendant's name and the details of the case are not disclosed in the interests of the investigation.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported earlier that the mass fight of ethnic Russian with Caucasian natives burst out in Stavropol on May 24. About 300 persons took part in it. In the course of the fight, Gelani Ataev, a student from Chechnya, was lost.
