Parents of Dalgatov, who died at police station, prepare rally in Makhachkala

The parents of Kurban Dalgatov, who died after detention at the Makhachkala police station, have sent a notification about the planned rally to the Makhachkala Mayoralty. They are dissatisfied with the inquiry results and the course of the trial against 10 law enforcers.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in July 2024, the inquiry into the case of 11 employees of the Sovietsky ROVD (District Interior Division) of Makhachkala, accused in the case of Dalgatov's death, was completed. The case of two more law enforcers, Atavov and Babaev, who entered into a pre-trial agreement, was separated. In December 2024, the court sentenced Islam Atavov to 7.5 years in penal colony for involvement in Dalgatov's death; and in November of the same year, the court granted the request to release Marat Babaev for taking part in the special military operation (SMO) zone in Ukraine.

Dalgatov's parents intend to hold a rally on February 11; the declared number of participants is up to 300, the Telegram channel "Chernovik" has reported.

Let us recall that there are three victims in the case: apart from Dalgatov, two of his acquaintances were detained, who were also tortured. None of the case figurants has pleaded guilty. According to the case materials, not all of them took direct part in torturing Dalgatov, Madina Alieva, an advocate, who represents the interests of the casualty’s family, stated last July.
