Kadyrov's associate Delimkhanov refuses to help in searching for Seda Suleimanova

Adam Delimkhanov, a Russian State Duma MP, has refused the activists' request to initiate a check into the disappearance of Seda Suleimanova, a Chechen native.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this April, it became known that the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) was investigating Suleimanova's disappearance under the article on murder.

In August 2023, Seda Suleimanova, a Chechen native, was detained in Saint Petersburg and taken to Chechnya. After that, no messages were received from her. Her friends and human rights defenders fear that she became the victim of the so-called "honour killing".

Ramzan Kadyrov's associate, Adam Delimkhanov, has referred to the fact that the issue is beyond his competence, the human rights organization "SK SOS Crisis Group"* has informed.

In August, a group of activists filed 446 appeals – one to each State Duma MP – and have not yet received responses to the vast majority of appeals. At the same time, more than 40 MPs refused to help due to the absence of respective powers in them.

The authors of the publication have recalled that Adam Delimkhanov had earlier responded to the situation with another Chechen woman, Liya Zaurbekova, who had fled from relatives who were trying to forcibly return her home. "Then the MP didn't report the absence of his powers," the publication says.

Relatives of the 19-year-old Liya Zaurbekova, who had fled from her family due to pressure, put her on the wanted list and found her in Moscow. Then, Delimkhanov expressed confidence that Zaurbekova will be returned to her relatives in the near future. He added that he was participating in Zaurbekova's case on Kadyrov's instruction. The girl later managed to leave the country.
