Three Dagestani law enforcers suspected of torture

The policemen from Dagestan, Magomed Magomedov, Ramazan Magomedov and Abdulatip Gadjiev are suspected of abuse of power and torture.

Magomed Magomedov's defence tried to challenge his arrest, but the court refused to change his freedom restriction measure, supposing that he, by using his official ties while at large, could put pressure on the victim and witnesses, the Dagestani Supreme Court (SC) writes in its website.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that the death of Kurban Dalgatov on January 20, 2023, when he was taken to the Makhachkala police station, caused a broad public outcry in Dagestan. His relatives assert that he died of suffocation after he was "shocked by electricity in the heart area."
