OSCE Secretary General calls on Azerbaijani authorities to release journalists

During his visit to Azerbaijan, Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, Secretary General of the OSCE, has called the leaders of the Republic to release the journalists who are kept in prisons.

The OSCE head has assured, that the Organization for Safety and Cooperation in Europe will continue to trace the situation with the seven journalists convicted in Azerbaijan, and to search for the fair solution of this problem. Radio Liberty has informed about it.

The Secretary General has also promised that the OSCE will closely cooperate with the authorities and civil society of Azerbaijan to ensure the democratic character of the 2008 presidential elections.
