Teenager reports violations in arson case of military commissariat in Rostov-on-Don

The teenager convicted of arson of the military commissariat (registration and enlistment office) has stated that he had given no confession, but signed the text prepared by the investigator. The Russian Supreme Court (SC) has found no violations and upheld the sentence.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the 17-year-old boy from Krasnoyarsk was sentenced to six years in a correctional colony.

In her complaint, the advocate has stated that during the investigation, the minor's rights had been violated. Thus, the suspect's interrogation was held at night on August 25, 2022, without a legal representative and an advocate. And until October 5, 2022, the teen was "illegally held in a temporary detention centre for juvenile offenders"; the teen's mother was able to see him only in October, although he was supposed to be interrogated in her presence.

It is also emphasized that only after being transferred to the colony did the convict tell his mother that he had intended to commit arson at the military commissariat "under the influence of psychological pressure from an unknown person."
