People demand release of arrested activists of the Movement "Georgia Without Violence"

Representatives of the youth organization of the "Freedom" Political Movement demand immediate release of the four arrested activists of the Youth Movement "Georgia Without Violence." Today, an action with this demand was held in front of the building of Tbilisi police.

The "Caucasian Knot" has informed today that yesterday, on October 17, the Tbilisi City Court sentenced four activists of the Youth Movement "Georgia Without Violence" to 20 days of imprisonment. The activists were detained during a protest action in the central street of Tbilisi, the Rustaveli Avenue, on October 16 during an attempt to block the traffic. The names of the convicts were given: Irakliy Dzhaparidze, Georgiy Mestumrishvili, Irakliy Chukhua and Irakliy Gaprindashvili. The case was considered by Maya Kopaleishvili, Chair of the Administrative Board of the Court.

The Youth Movement was created quite recently - on October 16. "The aims of the Movement are to stop, once and forever, murders of young people in the streets of the country, to stop the so-called "death brigades," to do away with restrictions of the freedom of speech, to finish with the attacks on mass media, and so on," Levan Gogichaishvili, one of participants of the action and representative of the NGO "Institute of Equality," has stated to journalists.
