Dagestani villagers achieve reaction to their appeal to republic's head

The Ministry of Energy of Dagestan will conduct a check into the appeal to the head of Dagestan from residents of the village of Darkush-Kazmalyar, who are against the construction of a high-voltage power line. The administration of the Suleiman-Stalsky District has called for compromises, pointing out that the construction of a pipe plant, which needs the power line, could significantly improve the situation in the district.

The local plant administration is building a high-voltage power line, but it runs through a residential area, the poles were installed too close to houses, Darkush-Kazmalyar villagers said in their appeal to Sergey Melikov, the head of Dagestan.

The above ministry has taken control of the village residents' appeal to the republic's head, the ministry said in its Telegram channel.

After the villagers' appeal to Melikov, the Suleiman-Stalsky district administration held a meeting "with all the interested parties." The administration then stated that "the implementation of a large investment project for the plant construction can significantly improve the socio-economic situation in the district, and create new jobs for residents," and investors are ready to "develop the village's infrastructure."

Also, the district authorities said that they understand the villagers' concerns "about the potentially negative impact of high-voltage lines on their health and safety."
