Residents of village near Makhachkala complain to Putin about absence of water

In the village of Bogatyryovka, due to the lack of running water supply, people have to buy drinking water or use technical water from wells, while local authorities do not solve the problem. That has been reported by villagers in their appeal to President Putin. The village’s water supply project is undergoing the state examination stage, the Makhachkala Mayoralty reports.

Residents of the village of Bogatyryovka, a part of the Kirovsky District of Makhachkala, have recorded a video message to Vladimir Putin with a complaint stating that they have been deprived of access to normal drinking water for years. The video was posted in the telegram channel of the Dagestani weekly newspaper “Chernovik” (Rough Draft).

In their video message, authors note that the Bogatyryovka villagers “hear endless promises” from the city authorities.

Residents collect water for technical purposes from a street tap, where it comes from an artesian well, confirms Dinara, a resident of the village. “This water is not suitable for drinking. We purchase water for cooking or take it from water trucks that sometimes come to the village. But we have to boil it,” said the woman.

The arsenic content in the water of those two wells exceeds the permissible amount by 16 times. After complaints, the local department of the “Rospotrebnadzor” (Russian Federal Agency for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) obliged the authorities to provide residents of the village with high-quality drinking water, but the decision was not implemented, notes Magomed Gitingadjiev, a resident of the village.

Let us remind you that on December 13, two video messages from residents of the village of Gerkhmakhi in the Akushinsky District were posted on the Internet. In the first video, villagers asked President Putin to solve problems with gas and electricity supply. In the second video, a resident of the Gerkhmakha village, participating in the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine, made a similar request to Sergei Melikov, the leader of Dagestan.
