Volgograd student's arrest in case of fakes about Russian Army extended

A court in Volgograd has extended the arrest of Daniil Vodolagin, accused of spreading fakes about the Russian Army, by three months, the human rights project "OVD-Info"* has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 1, 2023, the Sovietsky District Court of Volgograd received a criminal case against the 21-year-old Daniil Vodolagin, accused of spreading fake news about the Russian Army motivated by political hatred due to his pacifist posts in social networks. The human rights project "Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial" has declared him as political prisoner.

According to investigators, the young man has publicly disseminated deliberately false information about the use of the Russian Armed Forces and the execution by state bodies of their powers, while he was guided by "motives of political and ideological hatred or enmity."
