Defence succeeds in seeking treatment for Zarema Musaeva

Zarema Musaeva, who is serving her imprisonment term in a penal colony in Argun, is undergoing medical treatment in a day hospital, her advocate reports.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on May 3, the advocate of Zarema Musaeva sent a complaint to the Chechen Prosecutor. In the complaint, the defender emphasized that his client had been denied medical treatment for several months, despite the obvious deterioration of her health state.

On March 28, the advocate reported that Zarema Musaeva’s sense of vision had sharply deteriorated and the woman began to experience severe pains. The deterioration of Zarema Musaeva’s health state became another basis for conditional early relief (CER), but the woman is actually being held hostage by the Chechen authorities, human rights defenders note.

At present, Zarema Musaeva is receiving the necessary medical treatment at the hospital, the “Team Against Torture” (TaT)* reports.

“As it can be concluded from objective observations, the health state of Zarema Musaeva is, without a doubt, improving,” said advocate Alexander Savin as quoted by the “Team Against Torture”* Telegram channel.

*The “Team against Torture” (TaT, formerly the “Committee against Torture” – CaT) was created by the lawyers who had earlier worked for the CaT, which was included into the register of the NCOs performing the functions of foreign agents.
