Advocate complains about denial of Zarema Musaeva's treatment

In his complaint to the Chechen Prosecutor, Alexander Savin, one of Zarema Musaeva's advocates, has stated that she had been denied due medical treatment for several months, despite the obvious deterioration in her health.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 24, a Musaeva's son stated that she had been taken to hospital from the colony after a sharp deterioration in her health. However, Musaeva's defence has denied her urgent hospitalization.

Alexander Savin has been seeking for Musaeva's hospitalization for several months, but so far she has only been relieved of pain in her leg with medications. She moves with difficulty. Last week, Musaeva began using crutches, the "Team against Torture" (TaT)* has reported in its Telegram channel.

On May 3, Savin sent a complaint to the Prosecutor of Chechnya demanding to check the refusal to provide Musaeva with the medical care she needs.

Let us remind you that on March 28, 2024, the advocate reported that Musaeva's vision had deteriorated sharply, and she was experiencing severe pains. The worsening of Musaeva's health condition is another argument for applying the conditional early relief (CER) to Musaeva, but she is actually being held hostage by Chechen authorities, human rights defenders have noted.

*The "Team against Torture" (TaT, formerly the "Committee against Torture" – CaT) was created by the lawyers who had earlier worked for the CaT, which was included into the register of the NCOs performing the functions of foreign agents.
