Zarema Musaeva's health condition worsens in colony

Zarema Musaeva's sense of vision has sharply deteriorated in the colony in Argun; and she also suffers from swellings and severe pain, his advocate has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported referring to her advocate's statement of March 13, that after a request for her release lodged in December 2023, Musaeva was never given a medical examination because of her grave health condition. It has deteriorated significantly during her custody at the SIZO (pre-trial prison).

In July 2023, the defence announced that Musaeva's health condition had worsened and demanded a full medical examination. She underwent some treatment in hospital, after which she was returned to the Grozny SIZO in August.

According to Alexander Savin, her advocate, Musaeva was diagnosed with cataracts, the human rights organization "Team against Torture" (TaT)* reports on its Telegram channel. Mr Savin has noted that for several months now Musaeva has not been given the medical examination needed for the court.

Let us remind you that on December 12, 2023, the Shali City Court denied Musaeva's CER (conditional early relief).

*The "Team against Torture" (TaT, formerly the "Committee against Torture" – CaT) was created by the lawyers who had earlier worked for the CaT, which was included into the register of the NCOs performing the functions of foreign agents.
