In Vladikavkaz, court arrests man suspected of high treason

In North Ossetia, law enforcers detained a man who, according to the investigators’ version, intended to join a Ukrainian armed formation. A case on attempted high treason is being investigated and the suspect has been arrested.

A criminal case has been instituted against a 20-year-old resident of the Altai Territory on suspicion of attempting to travel to Ukraine to participate in hostilities on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the “Interfax” reported with reference to the press service for the FSB Department for North Ossetia.

“Using a mobile application, the suspect found step-by-step instructions and applied to join an armed formation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” the FSB Department for North Ossetia reported.

According to the investigators’ version, in December 2023, the suspect arrived in Vladikavkaz in order to travel through Georgia to Ukraine, but was detained.

The “Caucasian Knot” has also reported that in October 2022, 21-year-old Savely Frolov was detained. According to the investigators’ version, the young man was planning to join a Ukrainian armed formation. Savely Frolov pleaded not guilty. The project “Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial” recognized him as a political prisoner.
