Chechen native Djumaev, convicted of beating law enforcer at protest action, has his conditions of detention in penal colony tightened

Said-Mukhammad Djumaev, a native of Chechnya, convicted of beating law enforcers at a protest action, has been transferred to a unified cell-type room, the “OVD-Info”* human rights project reports on its Telegram channel.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on January 31, 2023, it became known that Said-Mukhammad Djumaev was transferred to a punishment cell. His relatives expressed the opinion that the penal colony administration used the above-mentioned measure against Said-Mukhammad Djumaev with the aim to disrupt a visit of his mother. In February of the same year, Said-Mukhammad Djumaev was repeatedly placed to a punishment cell. After that, the commission made a decision to transfer Said-Mukhammad Djumaev to strict conditions of detention, which excludes the possibility of conditional early relief (CER).

On August 19, 2021, Mikail Markhiev (Said-Mukhammad Djumaev) was sentenced to five years of imprisonment for using violence against a public officer. The court found the young man guilty of confronting law enforcers at an action in support of Alexei Navalny on January 23, 2021.

On February 2, 2021, Ramzan Kadyrov sharply condemned Said-Mukhammad Djumaev, saying that the young man had harmed the people of Chechnya and acted unmanly by hiding from the law enforcement bodies after the incident.
