Krasnodar resident publicly apologizes for shooting at wedding party

The police have released a video with an apology from a resident of Krasnodar detained for shooting at a wedding party. The young man has explained his actions as an attempt to follow the Caucasian traditions.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that although shooting is regarded as an offense, the tradition of shooting at wedding parties has been preserved in Northern Caucasus. In January, a seven-year-old girl was wounded in a shooting at a wedding party in Karachay-Cherkessia.

The incident occurred on February 24, when the bride and the groom were standing near a residential building, and one of the guests fired from a submachine gun. The shooting was accompanied by joyful screams, the “93.ru” portal reports.

On the same day, a wedding cortege consisting of more than ten cars blocked several lanes of the motorway and the entrance to a residential complex. Drivers got out of their cars and began to dance. Eyewitnesses said that some cars did not have state registration plates, the publication reports.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) announces that the drivers who violated road traffic regulations were brought to administrative responsibility, the “Kommersant” reports.

The person detained for the shooting is a 22-year-old local resident.
