Azerbaijani student believes that he was deprived of his scholarship for political reasons

Bakhtiyar Gadzhiev, a student from Azerbaijan, who is taking his master courses at the Harvard University in the USA, thinks that he was deprived of his state scholarship for political motives. This is the topic of the student's address to the public. He asserts that he cannot receive the funds to pay for his training owed to him under the 2007-2015 Presidential Training Programme of Azerbaijani young people abroad, although the power bodies had promised to pay for his training.

The student sees the reason of such attitude in the fact that on January 10, 2007, in connection with a sharp increase of prices on energy carriers in Azerbaijan, Mr Gadzhiev created a web site at www.susmayaq.biz, where he called the readers to protest energetically against the policy of the authorities.

Three days later, he was detained in one of Internet clubs and sentenced to administrative arrest. However, after protests of local and international public the Appeal Court of Azerbaijan released him. Bakhtiyar Gadzhiev believes that he was deprived of his scholarship because of his civil position.

We remind you that earlier the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that starting January 8 this year Azerbaijan has tripled the tariffs on fuel, electricity and municipal services.
