State Duma MP apologizes after Kadyrov's anger

Ramzan Kadyrov has proposed to "kick out" Mikhail Matveev, an MP, from the State Duma after his statement that authorities were bending "before the Islamic factor," and warned about the threat of intra-Russian conflicts with Muslims. After this, the above MP recorded a video with an apology, explaining that he had meant supporters of the radical Islam and the "shaitans" already defeated in Chechnya.

In his Telegram channel, Kadyrov spoke out in connection with the "Russian State Duma MP, Mikhail Matveev's provocative speech." "We, convinced Muslims, had fought against the fanatics he mentioned in Chechnya and put an end to them once and for all, having liquidated the last underground militants' cell," the head of Chechnya has stated.

"We live in a secular state, which allows us to practice Islam, build mosques and pray. And we, Muslims, are obliged to defend the country," Mr Kadyrov has added.

Mikhail Matveev said in an interview that migrants are coming to Russia "who live in the Middle Ages," profess radical Islam and "begin aggressively imposing their Sharia Law on us." He stated that in Russia authorities are "beginning to succumb to the Islamic factor," and schools will soon take a break for namazes (Islamic prayers).

The MP has predicted that after the end of the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine, when "half a million or more of our guys" return from the front, "major clashes will begin of those who already feel like masters in our country and the real masters thereof." The interview was posted in Pavel Ivanov's YouTube channel.

"I, of course, meant those terrorists, shaitans, as you call them, with whom you have fought in your republic in Northern Caucasus, and who were defeated there," Mr Matveev said in his apology video.
