Fight for morality at Derbent school results in prosecutor's check

The Dagestani Prosecutor's Office (PO) has reported about a check conducted in connection with the information about violations of schoolchildren's rights in Derbent. High school students at one of the schools were persecuting teenagers whose clothes and appearance, in their opinion, were immoral. Schoolchildren are beaten up, threatened and insulted in social networks.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Dagestan, there are cases of persecution of people for what some treat as inappropriate appearance. Thus, on June 25, 2023, a video appeared in social networks, in which college students in Makhachkala took part in a fashion show with religious symbols. Some social network commentators demanded that to fire the college bosses for insulting believers' feelings. Local analysts then noted that such situations arise from the poverty of cultural life in the republic.

According to the "My Derbent 24" public, last September, in the "VKontakte" social network, high school students insulted girls for "dressing inappropriately," demanded apologies and voicing out threats against their families. Teenagers were also persecuted for their dress code (including the informal style, and wearing earrings) and their ethnicity. Pupils noted that school staff is aware of what is happening, and not only fails to react, but sometimes even encourages the behaviour of high school students.

Last year, at school, a talk was held with pupils about the dangers of watching anime. It was after this that the persecution of teenagers by high school pupils began.

Some commentators stated that the reason was in the improper teenagers' upbringing.

"We need to educate children, explain that they cannot insult and humiliate others. But the children, who idealize the Western culture, also need to be explained that this is bad," the user Ibadula Ibadulaevich has stated. Other users have called to punish the school administration.
