Court’s decision in case against law enforcers gives hope to mother of beaten Krasnodar resident

In Krasnodar, the court of cassation cancelled the acquittal of two former policemen and returned for reconsideration the case on beating of disabled person Evgeny Manchenko. The court’s decision gave hope for a fair verdict, states a victim’s mother.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on July 21, the Krasnodar Regional Court acquitted former patrol-and-post police service (known as DPS) inspectors Vladimir Tatarkov and Vyacheslav Zyabkin in the case on beating of Krasnodar resident Evgeny Manchenko. Both law enforcers received the right to rehabilitation for “illegal criminal prosecution.”

On June 15, 2022, the Prikubansky District Court found Vyacheslav Zyabkin and Vladimir Tatarkov guilty of abuse of power and sentenced them to 4 and 3 years of probation, respectively. However, the Krasnodar Territorial Court cancelled the verdict.

When Snezhana Manchenko, a mother of Evgeny Manchenko, learned about the decision of the court of cassation, she “was very happy and was pleasantly surprised that there was still justice in the world.”

According to the woman’s story, her son still did not recover after the beating because he had been so frightened. In addition, Evgeny Manchenko still periodically has pain in his leg.

Let us remind you that in March 2019, Evgeny Manchenko tried to climb over the fence into the yard of his house because he had lost his keys. The policemen ran up to him, began to pull him off the fence, and hit him on the leg with a baton. When Evgeny fell to the ground, the policemen continued to beat him, the victim’s mother stated. She noted that her 23-year-old son is disabled with developmental disabilities.
