Social network users dispute about reception of Palestinian refugees in Nalchik

It is appropriate to accept refugees when the republic's own problems have been resolved, users of the Instagram* public have pointed out in connection with the arrival of refugees from Palestine in Nalchik. Their opponents treat such statements unacceptable and express their readiness to help Palestinians.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that 50 refugees from the Gaza Strip, including 21 children, had arrived in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR); they are housed in a sanatorium in Nalchik.

Some Instagram* users have asked what help the arrivals need.

Other users have noted that refugees came to the republic in which many local residents' social problems remain unresolved. "Refugees live on our taxes, receive food, medical treatment and much more for free while we don't see what they receive," the user nogotkoff has written.

"We must first of all support our own people," the user klasss111 has agreed.

"When an earthquake occurred in Turkey and our suffered Circassians asked for help and to come here, they were not given permits; they were not allowed in. Our relatives, like outcasts, cannot return to their native lands. Children and old people also died there, they were left without anything," the user bosh2748 has noted.

The earthquake, which led to thousands of victims in Turkey and Syria, killed at least 150 Circassians, Kase Kik, the head of the Circassian Congress, stated on February 12, 2023.

Other users were outraged by such comments. "Will the republic's budget suffer greatly because of 21 children? Will someone lose one's salary if we nourish 50 people? You don't want to help, you don't want to take part – just pass by," the user muza_ilham has commented.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 21, Dagestani authorities announced that they were ready to accept up to 200 refugees from Palestine.

A total of 177 refugees from Palestine arrived in Chechnya. Akhmed Dudaev, the head of the Chechen Ministry for Nationalities' Matters, said that refugees should maintain cleanliness and be more organized; and they should not rush Chechen authorities to solve their problems.
