Courts receive over 300 police protocols after anti-Semitic actions in Dagestan

After the riots at an airport in Makhachkala, the courts of Dagestan received 302 police protocols drawn up under the article on violation of the procedure for holding actions. On November 13 alone, more than 20 such cases were transferred to the courts. Several young people are being investigated under criminal charges of mass riots. They have been arrested and plead not guilty.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on October 29, mass riots occurred at the Makhachkala airport following the messages reporting about the arrival of a plane with passengers from Israel. More than 20 people were injured, including nine police officers. On November 5, the police reported that 201 people were detained for participation in the riots, and protocols were drawn up against 155 detainees.

As reported on the official websites of the district courts of the republic, 17 people were charged under the article on organizing the simultaneous stay of people in one place. Fourteen people, against whom protocols were drawn up for holding a rally, were also accused of petty hooliganism, and for three – of failure to obey a lawful request of a police officer, the “Mediazona”* reports.

According to the publication, protocols on the above articles continue to be submitted to the courts. So, on November 13, 21 new cases were registered.

Advocate Israfil Gadadov reported that his two clients may be charged under several criminal articles.

“They are accused of participating in mass riots, causing a pogrom, and damaging airport property worth 285 million roubles, and also resisting law enforcers,” notes the advocate.

According to Israfil Gadadov, his clients are guys 20-24 years old who did not participate in the riots. “One of them says that he did not go out to the runway, but stood near the fence, and that he did not enter the building. When the police fired tear gas, he left the place, washed his eyes at a petrol station, then called a friend with whom he ended up at the airport to agree that it was time to leave, since it became dangerous to stay there. The second guy stated that he was returning from Zelenokumsk with his girlfriend, did not enter the airport building and even filmed himself on his mobile phone to show that he was outside. After that, he was invited to a police station, and he went there being in a calm mood, knowing that he was not guilty of anything. The police watched his records on his mobile phone, but still announced that he was detained as an accused,” stated the advocate.

*On September 29, 2021, the Ministry of Justice of Russia included the LLC “ZP” (the legal entity that had established the “Mediazona”) into the list of media outlets-foreign agents.
