Kremlin commented on riots in Dagestan

Mass unrest in Makhachkala was provoked from outside, said Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov. Vladimir Putin has scheduled a closed meeting in the Kremlin related to the unrest, he said. “It is well known and obvious that yesterday’s events around the Makhachkala airport are largely the result of outside interference, including outside information campaigns,” TASS quoted him as sayi ng today.

According to him, Vladimir Putin will hold a meeting today at which he will discuss “the West’s attempts to use events in the Middle East to split Russian society.” Putin is scheduled to deliver a speech, and then the meeting will be held behind closed doors, the agency reports.

Peskov added that the meeting will be attended by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov, heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense, the FSB, the Russian Guard, the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) and the Investigative Committee, writes Interfax.
