In Makhachkala, police stop action of solidarity with Palestine

Residents of Dagestan gathered in the centre of Makhachkala to hold an action in support of Palestine, but they were dispersed by the police, as follows from videos posted on the Internet.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in Chechnya, mosques held collective prayers for the Muslims of Palestine, who are in danger after the escalation of the situation in Israel. The hostilities between Israel and the Palestinian “Hamas” movement arose on October 7. Thousands of people were killed on both sides.

Residents of Dagestan tried to hold an action in support of Palestine in the central square of Makhachkala in front of the republic’s government building. In a video posted by the “Utro Dagestana” (Morning of Dagestan) Telegram channel, dozens of men gathered in the square around law enforcers and entered into a discussion with them. One of the residents asks policemen why people may not hold namaz (prayer) in the square. Another video depicts law enforcers with batons accumulated in the square.

Earlier, the Jewish communities of the North-Caucasian republics responded to the “Hamas” movement’s threats. So, the Jewish communities of Makhachkala and Kizlyar cancelled a number of events because of the threats from Palestinian militants.
