Court not to consider results of forensic examination of Ingush native Albagachiev

The condition of Abdul-Malik Albagachiev, a native of Ingushetia, is deteriorating as he does not receive the necessary medical treatment, which cannot be provided in the penal colony. This is stated in the forensic medical examination report, which the defence asked to include in the Abdul-Malik Albagachiev’s case. During the consideration of the appeal against tightening the prison regime for Abdul-Malik Albagachiev, the court dismissed the advocate’s request, and the defender called the judge’s decision unmotivated.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on August 23, advocate Irina Biryukova received a letter from Abdul-Malik Albagachiev in which the prisoner suffering from epilepsy wrote that on August 21, he was not provided with medical care for more than an hour and that another prisoner was beaten in front of his eyes.

The expert indicated that Abdul-Malik Albagachiev began to suffer from epilepsy as a result of a traumatic brain injury. In addition, the expert confirmed the deterioration of the Abdul-Malik Albagachiev’s health state.

The judge did not attach the results of the forensic examination to the case without any reason, noted the defender. Abdul-Malik Albagachiev suffers from a serious illness, he is not provided with necessary medical treatment, and his health state is only getting worse, emphasizes Irina Biryukova.

The expert came to the conclusion that medical care for Abdul-Malik Albagachiev is not being provided properly, notes Dmitry Yegoshin, a lawyer of the “Public Verdict” Foundation*. “The reasons are not clear. Perhaps they don’t have proper equipment, or medicines, or specialists who could treat him efficiently,” said the lawyer.

Let us remind you that on March 19, human rights defenders reported the tortured conditions of Abdul-Malik Albagachiev’s detention in the penal colony.
