Press service of Ingushetian President: over 500 Russian families returned during two years

The RIA "Novosti" was told at the President's press service that during the last two years more than 500 Russian families have returned to Ingushetia.

"During 2007 we can adopt about 300 families more," the press service spokesman has added.

He has noted that since 2000 the funding of the program ("Return and Accommodation of Russian-Speaking Population Earlier Resident in Ingushetia" - CK) scheduled till 2010 has tripled, making today more than 12 million roubles allotted from the Republic's budget.

According to Antonina Khasieva, administration deputy head of the Sunzha District, actually 4-5 times more Russian-speaking citizens have come back to Ingushetia than officially registered.

Part of the returnees inherit some property from their relatives or buy housing facilities independently, Ms Khasieva has explained.

"Every day we get many letters from Kuban, Stavropol, Tyumen, Kostroma, Ukraine and other regions asking for help in coming back and accommodation. Unfortunately, the allocations from the Republic's budget do not allow us to satisfy all these requests," she has noted.

In Ms Khasieva's opinion, the economic well-being of the Republic is the main motive for coming back.

The main reason why people had to leave Ingushetia were armed conflicts in the neighbouring republics.
