Stay in SIZO endangers life of Jehovah's Witness* from Maykop

Nikolai Voischev, a Jehovah's Witness* from the city of Maykop, the capital of Adygea, is not provided with the necessary medical treatment at the SIZO (pre-trial prison), although doctors have confirmed that he has a serious illness.

On January 27, 2023, the court ruled to leave Nikolai Voischev, 67, at the SIZO until July. In February, he underwent a medical examination due to serious illnesses, after which special treatment was prescribed to him. He must regularly take some medicines, but he fails to receive them at the SIZO, the "OVD-Info"** project reports. Besides, the cell, in which Voischev is kept, is overcrowded.

Let us remind you that Voischev is accused of organizing and running an extremist organization. Investigators believe that he had held and coordinated meetings, statements and worship services by using the Internet.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in April 2022, law enforcers conducted searches of at least five residences of Jehovah's Witnesses* in Maykop; and two believers were taken for interrogation. Then, Nikolai Voischev was placed into the SIZO.
