Lawyers treat as reasonable period for investigation into young man’s murder near Kayakent in Dagestan

The case on the murder of 19-year-old Magomed-Ali Sultanov is at the stage of preliminary investigation, the Investigating Department for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reports. The murder case may be investigated for at least six months due to the large number of examinations, interrogations, and studies to be conducted, lawyers note.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on November 24, relatives of 19-year-old Magomed-Ali Sultanov, who was killed in a fight, stated at a gathering that the participants of the attack were trying to avoid punishment. On January 2, the relatives of the killed young man demanded from investigators to find and punish all those involved in the crime, and blocked traffic along the road, but were dispersed by the police. It was possible to draw attention to the investigation into the murder without blocking the road, and the police had to use force to clear the road, several social media users noted. Their opponents objected that it was the blocking of the road that attracted the attention of Alexander Bastrykin, the chair of the ICRF.

The investigation into the criminal offense may take a long time, especially when it comes to murder, emphasizes advocate Yevgeny Chernousov. There is no delay in the investigation into the case, he believes.

According to the advocate, the case was taken under personal control of Alexander Bastrykin, and this fact indicates that Moscow investigators took care of it, which also delays the case. However, it speaks to the importance of the case.
