Chechnya: prosecutor demands questioning victim in Musaeva's case

The representative of the prosecutor's office has demanded to take into account the opinion of the victim before adding to Zarema Musaeva's case files the expert's conclusions, which contradict the prosecution's version. The court agreed to interrogate the law enforcer, of attacking whom Musaeva is accused.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 1, at a hearing at a Grozny court, Musaeva completely denied the accusations, while confirming her testimonies she had given in the first days after her abduction. She stated that she had not attacked the policeman and did not see the victim.

Musaeva's defence asked the court to add to the case file the results of a re-examination of the policeman, Magomed Abdulkhamidov, who had accused Musaeva of assaulting him. His claim that Musaeva had scratched his face was the basis for the accusation.

According to the expert's conclusions, the policeman has no described traumas and no harm to his health, the "Team Against Torture" has reported in its Telegram channel.

According to the resolution of the Plenum of the Russia's Supreme Court (SC), a court is obliged to attach the expert's opinion to the case materials as evidence. However, the representative of the prosecution has opposed the adding of expert's data without taking into account the victim's opinion, Alexander Nemov, an advocate, has noted.

"The republic's deputy prosecutor has suddenly recollected that he needed the victim's opinion," the advocate quoted as saying in the message.

In this regard, the court has adjourned its session until the appearance of the policeman.
