Incident with Dagestani woman's children turns into relatives' demand for guardianship

After their refusal to live with their mother, the children of a Dagestani woman are in safety at the rehabilitation centre, the father of the children has stated, voicing out the plans to appoint his relatives as guardians.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reported on checking the report that in Kaliningrad three children locked themselves in an apartment and threatened to jump out of the window, explaining that their mother "used violence against them." The children were persuaded to leave the apartment; and investigators are working with them.

In March 2021, the court satisfied the claim of Nina, a resident of Dagestan, for guardianship over her children; and on July 16, her claim was granted to restrict the parental rights of the children's father, with whom she had divorced. The father of the children, Magomed, said that he intended to restore his parental rights in full, and called the treated his ex-wife's claims as unjustified. "The children complained that their mother was not at home, sometimes at night … She was cheated, or she cheated herself under the influence of some feminists," Magomed said in October 2021.

He has added that the children lived in Kaliningrad for a long time with their grandparents, Magomed's parents.

"We suggested that the children live with their grandparents, where they themselves want to live. They are loved there, they live well and comfortably there," he has explained.

In his opinion, the history of their family was misinterpreted. "In Dagestan, all sorts of feminist groups had misinformed that I was an abuser. And the children then already asked to be left with their father and with their grandparents, but their opinion was disregarded," the father said.

Given such a critical situation, the father has the right to decide on his children's residence, Alexander Inyutin, a lawyer, has pointed out.
