Colleagues of Dagestani journalist Gadjiev hold solo pickets in Makhachkala

Today, in Makhachkala, journalists Magomed Magomedov and Magdi Kamalov have held two solo pickets. The protestors demand to stop the persecution of Abdulmumin Gadjiev.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, the editor of the weekly newspaper “Chernovik” (Rough Draft), consider the criminal case against him to be political persecution. The journalists regularly hold protest actions in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev. So, on October 17, pickets were held by Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Chernovik”, and Idris Yusupov, a journalist of the publication “Novoye Delo” (New Clause).

Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the newspaper “Chernovik”, also regularly holds pickets in support of his colleague. On October 17, friends of Abdulmumin Gadjiev noted that protest actions in support of the journalist were being carried out by the same people from among his colleagues and there was no great public interest in his case.

Today, the solo pickets at the intersection of Gamzatov Street and Dakhadaev Avenue have been held by Magomed Magomedov and Magdi Kamalov, follows from the posts in the Telegram channel of the newspaper “Chernovik”.

Abdulmumin Gadjiev, as well as Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the “Ansar” charitable foundation, and Kemal Tambiev, were accused of financing terrorism.

On October 20, the court questioned a secret witness under the pseudonym “Djigurda”. According to Abubakar Rizvanov, the testimony of the secret witness contradicts the written testimony obtained at the stage of the pre-trial investigation.
