Azerbaijan: inmates convicted for abusing Prophet Mohammed transferred to strict custody colony

In Azerbaijan, publicist Rafik Tagi and editor of the "Sanat" (Culture) newspaper Samir Sadatoglu were sent to the strict custody colony for serving their punishments. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent learnt about it from the convicts' relatives.

Up to now, the journalists were kept at the pre-trial detention center (SIZO) of the Ministry of National Security of Azerbaijan.

We remind you that Messrs Sadatoglu and Tagi were sentenced for publication of the article "Europe and We," which contained hard-hitting utterances about Prophet Mohammed and dealt with superiority of Christian values over the Moslem ones. They were found guilty of kindling religious enmity and sentenced to 3 and 4 years of imprisonment accordingly.
