Military serviceman from Caspian Flotilla fired for refusing to go to Ukraine

The garrison military court of Makhachkala has refused to find illegal the dismissal from the army of Firudin Gadjibekov, a serviceman of the Caspian Flotilla, who refused to go to the special operation zone in Ukraine.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the contract servicemen from Dagestan, who returned without permission from the military operation zone in Ukraine, are placed into the guardhouse. They say that they are threatened with a tribunal; however, placing into the guardhouse without a court decision is illegal, Maxim Grebenyuk, a lawyer, pointed out.

The above military court has refused to satisfy the claim of Firudin Gadjibekov, a former serviceman of the Caspian Flotilla, who had been dismissed from the army for refusing to go to war against Ukraine, the outlet "Utro Kavkaza" (The Morning of the Caucasus) reported on September 19.

Firudin, a serviceman from Dagestan, refused to go to Ukraine on May 4, when the battalion commander "brought to his contingent" the corresponding order at the general line-up of the battalion. Gadjibekov pointed out that he was not provided with a "combat order" in writing, the outlet says. Then, he was fired from the army for a "gross disciplinary offense." The above court has upheld the command's arguments.

Gadjibekov has served under contract for more than ten years, including as a platoon commander, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project has pointed out. Since the start of the special operation in Ukraine, the Makhachkala garrison military court has received 15 criminal cases on charges of unauthorized abandonment of the military unit, while in 2021, there were only nine such cases, the project has explained.

*The project has been entered by the Russian Ministry of Justice into the register of foreign media outlets acting as foreign agents.
