Two pickets in support of journalist Gadjiev held in Makhachkala

In Makhachkala, journalists Magomed Magomedov and Idris Yusupov held solo pickets calling for an end to the criminal prosecution of Abdulmumin Gadjiev and the release of political prisoners.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev regularly hold pickets in Makhachkala in support of him. On August 29, such protest actions were carried out by Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the weekly newspaper “Chernovik” (Rough Draft), and Idris Yusupov, a journalist of the newspaper “Novoye Delo’ (New Clause).

On August 15, after Magomed Magomedov, a solo picket was held by Magdi Kamalov, a publisher of the “Chernovik”. That day, Abdulmumin Gadjiev’s children also came to support the pickets.

“We demand freedom for journalist Abdulmumin Gadjiev and the termination of the absurd criminal case against him,” the “Chernovik” reports in its Telegram channel.

Today, Idris Yusupov has come to his picket with a poster reading: “Freedom to political prisoners!”.

Abdulmumin Gadjiev is accused of financing terrorism. He pleads not guilty, and his colleagues consider the persecution of the journalist to be pressure on him.
