Court sides with police in case of beating up Makhachkala resident

The Dagestani police had reasonably refused to give Zanulabidin Mirzabekov, a resident of Makhachkala, materials on the check on his statement about beating up by law enforcers; this was ruled by the court that has rejected the victim's claim.

According to Mirzabekov, he was beaten up by policemen near the beach, after which they kept him at the police station for more than three hours and drew up a protocol of petty hooliganism against him.

Mirzabekov turned to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) demanding to acquaint him with the results of the check, but was refused, as the materials "contain information constituting a service secret; therefore, they cannot be presented for studying."
