Advocates tell about the condition of Dagestanis beaten up in Kalmyk colony

Daud Kuramagomedov, a torture victim, doesn't receive the help he needs, his advocate, Snezhana Muntyan, has stated. Magomed Atimagomedov's health condition has improved, but he is not even given the urgent assistance, his advocate, Aza Alieva, has added.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 8, the "Gulagu.net" reported about the beating of more than a hundred prisoners of the colony in Kalmykia after a colony warden was murdered. Vladimir Osechkin has stated that the convicts, who are accused of attacking the colony staff, had previously been tortured. Aza Alieva, one of the advocates, reported that her client, Magomed Atimagomedov, was tortured, severely beaten up and poured with boiling water, forcing him to sign the necessary testimonies. The second suspect, Daud Kuramagomedov, was also subjected to torture and violence, his advocate, Snezhana Muntyan said.

Ms Muntyan, who visited her client at the SIZO (pre-trial prison) on August 17, said that a criminal case had been initiated against the colony staff, who had tortured Kuramagomedov and Atimagomedov.

"My client was recognized as a victim under Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – abuse of power. That is, a criminal case was initiated against the colony wardens who had tortured him. My client told how they poured hot water and urinated on them; they poured salt on their wounds and tortured them with pepper spray by spraying it into the armpits and faces," Snezhana Muntyan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

She has added that Kuramagomedov is rendered medical care, but the minimal one. "At the SIZO, there are no conditions for providing full-fledged medical care, but no one is particularly eager to help them. They give him painkillers, treat burn wounds, and that's it," the advocate said.

Magomed Atimagomedov's health condition has improved slightly, his advocate, Aza Alieva, has reported. "Hospitalization is out of the question; he is not even given the urgent medical care," she told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to her story, all appeals and complaints remain unanswered so far.
