Zarema Musaeva left in custody

On July 5, a court in Grozny extended the arrest of Zarema Musaeva, accused of assaulting a law enforcer, until September 12. An ambulance was called for Musaeva during the trial, but doctors concluded that she could take part in the court session, her son, Abubakar Yangulbaev, has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Zarema Musaeva, the wife of Saidi Yangulbaev, a former federal judge, was taken away by law enforcers from Nizhny Novgorod to Grozny on January 20, 2022. On February 1, the woman was accused of assaulting a law enforcer. On February 11, Abubakar Yangulbaev pointed out that Zarema Musaeva has diabetes mellitus with multiple complications, and colonies, special detention centres and SIZOs (pre-trial prisons) cannot keep people suffering from this disease.

The Leninsky District Court of Grozny has extended Musaeva's arrest until September 12, the TASS wrote on July 5, citing the press service of the Chechen Supreme Court (SC).

According to Abubakar Yangulbaev, on July 5, a preliminary hearing on Musaeva's case began. "In the course of the trial, she felt bad; and they called an ambulance," the son wrote on his Telegram channel, explaining that earlier his mother, due to her health condition, was not brought to courtrooms for freedom restriction or custody extensions, despite the fact that the law binds the defendant's presence at the trial. However, doctors concluded that her health condition allowed her to be present at the court session.

"My mother is in a very grave condition; even under Russian laws, it is incompatible with serving a sentence," the "Kavkaz.Realii"* quotes him as saying.
