In Stavropol, activist fined for discrediting militaries

The Oktiabrsky District Court of Stavropol has fined Savely Morozov, an activist, by 40,000 roubles, finding him guilty of discrediting the Russian Army.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 9, Savely Morozov, an activist from Stavropol, said that he had applied to the military registration and enlistment office (commissariat) asking to provide him with a chance to perform an alternative army service. He explained his reasons to the drafting commission, but the next day law enforcers drew up a protocol against him on discrediting Russian militaries.

The above court has found Savely Morozov guilty under the article on discrediting the Russian Army and fined him by 40,000 roubles, the "OVD-Info"* project informed last night in its Telegram channel.

It follows from the website of the Oktiabrsky District Court of Stavropol that the court ruling was made on June 9.

*The project has been put by the Russian Ministry of Justice on the list of unregistered public associations acting as a foreign agent
