Court in Chechnya arrests contractor for his refusal to go on business trip

A military court in Chechnya has sentenced Ali Musaev, an employee of the military commandant's office, to ten days of arrest because of his refusal to go on a business trip "to the area where special missions are being performed."

As the Grozny garrison military court has found, on April 23, Ali Musaev, an employee of the military commandant's office, refused to go on a business trip "to the area where special tasks are being performed." According to the ruling on a disciplinary arrest, posted on the website of the above court, Ali Musaev has been serving under a contract since April 2017.

After refusing to go on a business trip, Musaev said he was ready to retire. At the trial, he admitted his guilt.

The military commandant asked to arrest Musaev for 15 days, the military prosecutor asked for 10 days. The court has treated his admission of guilt and the fact that he has young children as extenuating circumstances and sentenced him to 10 days of arrest.

The court ruling fails to indicate to what region Musaev was sent to perform the "special missions."
