About 50 suffer at protests in Yerevan

At a protest action in Yerevan, at oppositionists' clashes with law enforcers, a total of 34 policemen and 16 demonstrators received traumas; one victim is in grave condition.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the MPs from the "Civil Contract" faction failed to come to the parliamentary session initiated by the opposition on the issue of the future of Nagorno-Karabakh. Protesters came to the government building aiming to demand explanations of the reasons for the disruption of the session. Law enforcers used stun grenades against opposition supporters near the building of the Armenia government and began detaining activists.

The number of hospitalized people has grown up to 50, the Armenian Ministry of Public Health reported in its Facebook* page.

Earlier, Kristine Grigoryan, the Armenian Ombudsperson, said that protesters in Yerevan are increasingly receiving traumas due to the unlawful use of excessive force by policemen, who regularly show cruelty to activists; many after detentions need doctors' care; and victims of protests in Yerevan have confirmed it. Human rights defenders believe that law enforcers are deliberately protracting investigations of the use of violence against protesters so that the law enforcers engaged go unpunished.
