Azerbaijani oppositionist Razi Alyshov suspected of drug dealing

Razi Alyshov, a member of the Ganja city branch of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), is suspected of drug dealing. The party believes that the activist is being persecuted for his political activities.

Alyshov was detained on May 28 in a Ganja street, Asif Yusifli, a member of the PFPA presidium, has informed, adding that Razi faces a sentence of up to three years in prison. The apartment of Razi Alyshov was searched.

"We are convinced that the suspicion of drug dealing is absolutely far-fetched. Razi is a spiritually pure and believing person. He is far from drugs and other bad habits," Mr Yusifli is sure.

He believes that Alyshov is persecuted for his political activities and criticism of authorities in social networks. "On May 28, Pasha Umudov, a PFPA member, and Salekh Rustamov, a party veteran, were released, but Razi Alyshov was detained on the same day. Apart from him, five other party activists are in custody," Asif Yusifli has added.
