Militants who attacked militaries are searched in Chechnya

A special operation is underway in Chechnya to search the militants who yesterday, on July 9, blew up armoured personnel carrier (APC) of Federal Troops, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent informs.

A source in the law enforcement bodies of the Republic has reported that the incident took place in the vicinity of the Dishni-Vedeno village. As a result of a land mine explosion and subsequent shelling from automatic weapons, three servicemen from an Interior Troops unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia were killed and five more wounded.

Despite statements of the Republic's authorities on normalization of the situation, Chechnya faces increased activities of separatists' armed formations. During the recent time only, several armed collisions have taken place between small groups of militants and employees of power agencies. Thus, on July 6, at bombardment in the Shali District, a serviceman of the Russian Ministry of Defence perished. In the evening of July 6, at detention in the capital of Chechnya of militant Yunus Akhmadov, Saiputi Lorsanov, head of the Oktiabrskiy ROVD (District Interior Department), was lost.
