Yerevan: police start detaining protesters again

Today, activists are blocking streets and motor traffic in different parts of Yerevan. The police began detaining demonstrators.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 17, a total of 414 people were detained in Yerevan on charges of disobeying law enforcers. The "Resistance" oppositional movement began collecting signatures to the petition demanding to release the public and political figures detained at peaceful protests.

The police are detaining activists and freeing roadways from garbage cans in order to restore traffic, the "Interfax" writes. Eduard Sharmazanov, a former vice-speaker of the Armenian parliament, is among the detainees, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

Let us remind you that disobedience actions were launched in Armenia on April 25. The opposition was outraged by Nikol Pashinyan's statement about a possibility of "lowering the bar" on the status of Nagorno-Karabakh.
