Number of activists detained in Yerevan reaches 91

Law enforcers brought 91 protesters to police stations, the Armenian police reported. The police called on opposition supporters to stop their motor rallies and threatened to bring them to justice.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that today, the opposition resumed motor rallies in Yerevan demanding the resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. On May 15, the oppositionists marched through the centre of Yerevan, urging city residents to join them. Large-scale actions of disobedience will lead to a pan-Armenian strike and ensure the success of the protest movement, said Ishkhan Sagatelyan, the deputy speaker of the Armenian parliament. He announced the blocking of the metro for May 16.

According to Zarzand Gabrielyan, the chief of the Media Relations Department of the Armenian police, 91 people were detained at protest actions in Yerevan for failure to obey lawful demands of the police.

The police call on the opposition supporters to stop the motor rallies, as they “threaten traffic safety.”
