Armenian IC announces arrest of four oppositionists

Four persons have been arrested within the investigation of seven criminal cases initiated in connection with incidents during protests, the Investigating Committee (IC) of Armenia has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on Friday (May 6), law enforcers violently dispersed the rally held near the Victory Bridge in Yerevan, Ishkhan Sagatelyan, the Vice-Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, has stated. The police reported 48 detainees. According to the opposition, about 100 people were taken to police stations.

Every day, participants of thousand-strong disobedience actions organized in Armenia are detained. Activists demand to prevent the revision of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh and dismiss the Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan.

According to the Armenian IC, one of those arrested is a figurant in the case of an attack on Armen Martirosyan, the director of the "Antares" Publishing House; another one was arrested within the case of using violence against a woman during a protest; two others have been arrested within the case of coercion, prohibition or bribery to participate in rallies.
