Demand for hajj rises in Southern Russia after abolition of anti-COVID restrictions

After the abolition of anti-COVID restrictions, the number of Muslims who want to perform the hajj this year from the regions of the Southern Federal District (SFD) and the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) has increased.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on April 22, it became known that Saudi Arabia cut the hajj quota for Russian Muslims by half. This year, 11,318 Muslims from Russia will be able to make the pilgrimage to Mecca.

The decrease in hajj quotas is a global trend this year, and the hajj quota has been reduced not only for Russia, but also for other countries, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent has been told by an agent of the Dagestani hajj operator “Marva Tour”.

According to him, the demand for hajj pilgrimage is high, with more than 3000 applications accepted by appointment during a week.
