Parents of militaries who perished in Chechnya achieve increase in payments

A court in Krasnodar has raised the preferential category for the parents of the militaries who perished during the first Chechen war, giving them the right to receive increased payments; the court has also ruled to pay them the underpayment for previous years. The amount owed to families amounted to almost 290,000 roubles, the "Mother's Right" Fund has informed.

The ruling covers the parents of the four militaries who had perished in Chechnya. The conscript, Dmitry Voroshilov, served in the army for less than a year, but received two awards: a "For Courage" Medal and the Order of Courage (posthumously). He perished in 1995.

The Senior Sailor, Alexander Kashirin, also served in the army for less than a year; he was a radio telephonist. Since 1995, he took part "in the disarmament of illegal gangs in Chechnya." He perished in battle and was awarded the Order of Courage posthumously.

Maxim Lukyanchuk was called up for his military service in 1994 and perished in 1995. For his courage and valour during a special mission he was awarded the Order of Courage posthumously.

The conscript, Pavel Shpachenko, also joined the army in 1994. He was mortally wounded in battle in 1995, when, as a group member, he performed a mission of withdrawing units of motorized infantry troops to their initial positions. He was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage.
