Protest action of opposition movement leader ends with detention in Tbilisi

While protesting against the detention of his colleagues, Shota Digmelashvili, the leader of the “Shame” opposition movement, was throwing eggs at the building of the Georgian government. He was also detained.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Georgia hosts everyday actions in support of Ukraine. On March 7, seven activists were detained, including members of the “Shame” opposition movement.

According to the “Georgia-Online” news agency, on March 8, the police also detained Shota Digmelashvili, a founder of the “Shame” movement, after he threw chicken eggs at the building of the Georgian government.

For ten days, the Centre for Humanitarian Aid near the Parliament of Georgia has been collecting humanitarian aid to residents of Ukraine. Volunteers say that the campaign has no political nature and NGOs and ordinary citizens are engaged in collecting aid.

Citizens of Ukraine who could not return to their homeland and were accommodated in hotels in Georgia expressed their gratitude to the authorities for the accommodation.

Ordinary citizens of Georgia are also ready to accommodate residents of Ukraine. Nino Sukhitashvili, an employee of the Khashuri municipality, says that “many citizens are joining the humanitarian action to help the cities of Ukraine.”
